Nick Cooke started his mastering career in 2008 at De Wolfe Music as a remastering engineer working mainly from tape, remastering albums from 1950s onwards developing techniques using a range of powerful restoration software as well as other outboard options. This eye-opening experience provided Nick with an excellent introduction to the field of mastering, which led him onto Extreme Music in 2010, where he soon became the chief mastering engineer. Nick was in his element at Extreme and really developed as a mastering engineer over the years, working with an incredible range of talent. Benefiting from some fantastic opportunities and working with a great team of friends, his ability and confidence quickly blossomed.
After eight happy years, an unexpected opportunity to tour as a musician, alongside balancing family life encouraged Nick into taking the leap to go out on his own. With support from his family and best wishes from the Extreme guys, Nick stepped up to the challenge whole-heartedly, finally finding the ideal location for a new top-of-the-range mastering studio in his home village of Wrington, Somerset. He is now his own boss, doing what he loves to do!
